References to goose farming in the territory of present-day Poland appear as early as medieval writings. In the 19th century, Warsaw hosted a market where geese were traded, and from 1900, Lviv organized poultry exhibitions showcasing and offering various breeds of geese and ducks.
In rural Poland, backyard farming was popular — practiced both for personal use and for sale. Thanks to long-standing breeding traditions, optimal natural conditions, and excellent industry organization, Poland is a source of world-class goose down.

Polish goose is bred in natural conditions: vast green pastures, access to clean water, natural nutrition and no artificial fertilizers. It represents the finest species of White Koluda Goose which has been developed by the National Zootechnics Institute in Koluda Wielka for 80 years.
In present times in Poland, 98% of the goose population belongs to the Koluda breed.
